Tableau is a great product.  We implemented it at my last company - in place for over 3 years.  I can't say enough about how much more insightful your data will become when you use this product.  I have used other similar tools in the past, and Tableau is much easier to implement, and much better overall.

Yes, I agree Tableau Software is excellent.  There are others I have used including Qlik and MicroStrategy. Qlik is an open source, but is evolving with each new release. MicroStrategy is more than just a dashboard including other analytical and accounting tools.  Tableau has a Microsoft Excel feel and logic.  Since you are exploring Microsoft has a new Business Intelligence dashboard tool.  The key is obviously pricing and IT support availability.

Both Tableau and Microsoft's Power BI are great. I like Power BI because of the integration capabilities with Excel. There are some Youtube videos that compare them. You can search for them easy enough.
