Hi, My name is Sonal and I have relocated from CA to CT about 2 months ago. At my last company we used ADP but not sure if they have ADP here. I know people use Paychex as well but have you thought about Quickbooks and do it internally? I love doing QB but it all depend what internal system you used. If you would like to discuss this further contact me via email at [email protected].

Hi,

ADP and Paychex are the two biggest payroll service bureaus and provide fairly consistent service. Two smaller firms that I have used in the past are Paycomonline and Paybrige. Both provide excellent service and are cheaper than ADP and Paychex. I'd be glad to give you more information about my experiences if you wish. I can be reached at [email protected]

Good luck,

Dean

Hi Kim,

We switched from ADP last year to Paychex as we thought we'd get a higher level of service and better software solution.

We've got 70 employees and I have to say I've been quite disappointed with Paychex. For our needs their software is clunky and processing payroll much more complex then it should be for a company of our size.

We're now looking to move again... currently looking at Paylocity, Paycom and Paycor. Specifically looking for a company with more flexible and updated technology then what we've found with ADP and Paychex. While they claim their systems are fully integrated our experience has shown otherwise making payroll and hr management inefficient.

I'd be interested in hearing from anyone that is using Paylocity or Paycom

Thanks,

Tim

I have always been a fan of ADP. We use them at my current company and no complaints in terms of service.

We switched from ADP 4 yrs ago to upgrade from an aged solution and for price to Ceridian. The payroll side has worked fairly well but the time clock solution has always been problematic. We are fed up with the poor service for that issue so we are looking to switch to Paylocity. Anyone have experience with them?

I recently met with some representatives from Paycor. They came highly recommended and their cloud based services were impressive. After four meetings over two months, they determined they could not accommodate some of this company's requirements. But they were very up front about it and rather than pitch us something that they knew wouldn't work for us, they opted not to make a proposal. Very professional.

My company used ADP about four years ago. We moved due to issues of poor service (e.g. they failed to pay our payroll taxes at one point, leading to a federal agent to show up at our door seeking our records), but more because of their refusal to be transparent about their fees. They refused to disaggregate for costs related to payroll, workers' comp, etc. This made it impossible to benchmark costs.

We took our HR in-house, which was a terrible solution for a company of our size (then about 60 employees, now about 110).

Today we use a PEO out of Fort Lauderdale known as Alpha Staff. Our experience has been generally positive, though I suspect that our account was more complex than their typical relationship. Both in terms of geographic diversity and the types of issues we face relative to their other clients.

In any event, we worked collaboratively and things are going smoothly for us.

They were chosen because others in our industry had used them (companies without some of our issues), so the "boots on the ground" recommendations were helpful. Depending on your geographic footprint and issues you face -- and assuming you are looking for a PEO-like turnkey solution -- you might consider Alpha Staff.

Good luck!
