If anyone has experience with VOIP phone system comparisons, specifically Altigen or Cisco, I would love to hear from you. Our IT company (we outsource) is pushing a Cisco system and my limited experience suggests it's not worth the additional money.
Thanks,
Mike

Reach out to me at [email protected] or in LinkedIn. I used to work for Cox Communications and have contacts I might be able to steer you toward who could answer that question.
Are you looking for costs, efficiencies, operations, engineering questions, etc?

BlackBox Communications is a company here locally that will do JUST that kind of comparison work, gratis. They are also an IT outsourcer, so they might try to horn-in on that business, but in my experience they're just as happy to focus on telecom.
I'd be happy to look up the name of the guys I met there and get you an intro. Nice guys, smart, professional, and friendly. Full Disclosure: in the end, I didn't choose them (went a different route), but I liked their approach and proposal.
Also: in my experience, Cisco is expensive (top-end of the market). There are hosted Microsoft Lync solutions which might work for you as well (and the quality was SO much better than my (admittedly older) Mitel VOIP.

Greg, what I'm trying to do is see if the Cisco equipment provides enough value (in the opinion of this group) to make it worth the additional cost. We're buying a company and they have Cisco telephone equipment, but we use a different system. Our IT support company loves Cisco, but in my limited experience, I"m not aware of enough additional functionality to make it worth the cost.

Mike,
Check out Mitel. We used them for years (on a VOIP basis) and just upgraded with them. We have aver 200 users at multiple locations and it has worked well. Since phone systems are now software versus a box on your wall, they can also host for you.
Best regards,

I don't think Cisco is worth the extra cost. The sales people are very pushy. They sneak in extra costs into your contract, hoping you won't notice. So read everything thoroughly and make sure you understand what services you are purchasing. They also try to push you into a long term contract, which is not worth it. One never knows when the company has to down size and Cisco will have no pity. They will let you add to your contract before it ends, but not reduce.
